Burgundy from J.Crew... Getting Ready for Fall
With the end of summer almost here, it is time to start thinking about dressing for fall. At the beginning of the new season, I always look not just for something new, but new that has not been used a lot in previous seasons. I think this season the "new thing" for me will be burgundy color. As I mentioned before burgundy color is back and I am planning on embracing this forgotten color during this fall/winter 2012-2013 season. I love how burgundy looks when used to create monotone color outfit. For example, burgundy from head to toe and some nude color accessories. This is striking and daring look, which I love.
The important thing to consider though: if you want to look chic in burgundy monotone color when your outfit consists of more that one piece, like top and bottom, for example skirt and cardigan, (in fact, this applies to any monotone color), those two pieces must have exact matching color hue, and this is only possible if you buy both pieces from one brand. Mine happened to be J.Crew: tippi cardigan and pencil #2 skirt in golden burgundy - exact match.
By the way, this cardigan is the best. Usually I am very careful with tops that made from wool. This cardigan is made from merino wool and J.Crew's merino wool is so soft, that even I, with my sensitive skin, can wear my new tippi cardigan with no t-shirt underneath. No itching from wool fiber whatsoever.
As far as jewelry, the rich color of the outfit goes well with large statement necklaces TREND

Chanel Nail Polish... Rouge Fatal #487
In preparation for the Fall/Winter season, I was thinking about expanding my limited color scheme of nail polishes. Somehow I am stuck with just five colors, like this classic red , this frosty neutral , this light pink , dark cherry and nice coral shade. However, my obsession with burgundy color in fashion for the fall season went not only to my knitting DIY but spilled over to cosmetics as well and I wanted to find deep and dark nail polish with color that is dark burgundy without being too bright.
After spending some quality time at the number of cosmetic counters, I decided that Chanel Rouge Fatal #487 Nail polish fits the bill. What I like the best about this color is that it is burgundy without being too cherry and too bright. Chanel artfully mixed in some brown color, and with the right proportion of brown this burgundy looks toned down and not too bright, but at the same time it looks dark enough to be dramatic. It is perfect and exactly what I was looking for.
With manicure tips and tricks and some time dedicated to make it nicely, here is the result.
As far as application of this nail polish, it was easy to apply since this polish has nice texture. I had no trouble at all making it nice and neat.

Idea for Knitting DIY... Burgundy Sweater
Between Fall/Winter 2012-2013 trend on burgundy and leather and my prized possession burgundy Chanel 2.55 bag you can say that I have burgundy moment this season. I knew this color is coming back, so I knitted this sweater and now cannot wait for the cooler weather to come when I can wear it.
The reason I called it an "idea for knitting DIY" is because I am not really explaining how to complete this project from the beginning to the end. However, those who do knit, will know how I did it just by looking at the picture. I made a design of this sweater with wide collar and really like how it came out. I decided on emphasizing wide sweater collar even more with additional embellishment - rope I knitted out of very thin lurex yarn. This is just another idea for upcoming Fall/Winter and endless opportunities in DIY world.

Prized Possession... Chanel Burgundy 2.55 Bag
I think if I would hear my fire alarm go off and there was a fire in my house so I had to leave immediately, this is what I would grab first - my Chanel 2.55 burgundy handbag. This bag is my prized fashion accessory AND my birthday gift from very special person from a couple of years ago.
Last Sunday I talked about big return of burgundy color for this Fall/Winter 2012, and the burgundy of my Chanel bag only helps to create striking outfit with monotone look of new must have color. Although I have to say, this classic bag is always on trend, regardless of the color. Pin It

Fashion Finds... Burgundy and Leather for Fall/Winter 2012/13
I was planning on writing my Fashion Finds post on burgundy color for awhile, but other topics would come as priority and I was delaying this post justifying my procrastination by the fact that burgundy is very big trend for the Fall/Winter 2012/2013 and we are still in June. However, when I saw this picture posted by The Sartorialist I decided - it is time for action.
So, burgundy color. This color used to be in fashion, then it was out of everybody's favor, and now it is coming back. As any fashion trend return from the past, there are some updates. For example, burgundy color use in leather not limited to accessories only. Leather skirts and dresses are on everyone's radar. Then mixing such striking colors as turquoise or navy blue with burgundy in one outfit is also something that we have not seeing before.
I found that burgundy looks very chic and sophisticated in monotone outfit. When you wear burgundy from top to bottom, your accessories will stand out even more. Also burgundy can look very sharp in combination with black, light blue or gray. There is something for everybody.
