Silk Braided Rope Bracelet... DIY

Yesterday I shared with you how I like my silk scarves and enjoy wearing those because of their colors, prints variety and no less important how silk feels on my skin.  I thought it would be wonderful to have a bracelet made from silk.  This way I would have luxurious feeling of the silk on my arm all the time I wear the bracelet.

I chose my silk fabric in pink/peach color with marble effect pattern.  As far as bracelet design, it was not hard to decide what I want to make since I like the look of braids.  I also should add that I wanted this bracelet to be big and chunky.  I like how larger size bracelets emphasize slim wrist and this looks beautiful!

All I needed to make this bracelet shown on the top picture.  It was:
  • silk fabric
  • toggle closure
  • some small chain for embellishment and closure function
  • filler in the shape of a rope
...and if you can make a braid and use sewing machine at a simple level - Voila! Let me know if you were inspired to make one too. Pin It

The Odyssey of Cartier

First time I saw this short Cartier film about a month ago. Today I saw it again and decided to share it with you. It is absolutely beautiful to me. Reportedly this movie is 3min 30 sec long, it cost several millions of euros and took 2 years to complete.

Silk Scarves

Ah, silk scarves... I have a lot of them and use them a lot too.  What I like about quality silk scarves is that there are so many interesting patterns to choose from and I love that beautiful silky sheen on heavier scarves.  Also I LOVE how it feels to the touch - smooth, sensuous and a little bit cool.  My love of silk fabric gave me an idea for the next DIY project in my accessory department. I will share my final product with you tomorrow.  Do you wear silk scarves?  If you do, tell me how! Pin It

Detachable White Lace Collar... DIY

As I wrote yesterday, I was fascinated by Parisian architecture with it's use of "iron lace."  It reminded me of beautiful lace that is so in fashion now.  Lace fabric has that ethereal look and can add touch of femininity to any outfit.  During last fashion weeks designers Karl Lagerfeld, Rodarte, Miu Miu, Louis Vuitton,  and some others showed detachable collars as an accessory. They used different materials, and not only textiles.  Many designers used contrasting collars instead of usual necklace to embellish  a basic garment. My take on this trend - handmade white lace detachable collar. You can follow my pictures from the top and see how I made it. However, if you have a question, let me know, I will be happy to give you more detailed instructions. Pin It

Iron Laces of Paris

On my last visit to Paris I took a lot of pictures of what I call "Iron Lace," which is very characteristic to this city.   These beautiful elements of Parisian architecture inspired me to do a project, that I am almost done with and will be able to share my final product with you tomorrow. Keep in touch! Pin It

Red Nail Polish... Butter London in Pillar Box Red

Spring is here, birds are singing and I am in the mood for a new bright nail polish.  I know that majority of spring color cosmetics suggest pastels.  This is exactly why I thought bright nails should add nice contrast to pastel colors of the face.  My choice of "bright" happened to be classic red.  This time around I decided to try Butter London "Pillar Box Red" and was not disappointed.  Not only it is simple classic red color I was looking for, but supposedly their product does not contain 3 major harmful chemicals that other nail polishes include in their formula.  This is how I like it!  What is your favorite red nail polish? Black and White

As I was looking for visual examples of black/white colors for one of my projects, I decided to take a picture of the white cotton flowers in my handmade ceramic white vase. I have always loved the rough texture of this vase that was made by someone who is very dear to me. For this picture's background I used a piece of beautiful leather that was able to capture light reflection of the vase. I liked the way it came out. What do you think?
