Yves Rocher and Botanical Beauty Research... Sandthorn Berries

It is hard to believe we are in August already.  To me, August is the last month of the summer (sad) and it is time to pick up all ripe berries I have in my garden.

Some years ago I bought two little sprigs of the plant that was advertised as native plant from Siberia.  The description of the plant promised to produce orange berries, rich in antioxidants and very good for your health.  After some years, those little sprigs grew up into the dwarf tree and, as promised, started producing beautiful bright orange, sour tasting berries that worked really well for home made preserves.  Even though I was making those preserves for some years now, for the life of me, I could not remember the name of this plant!

Yesterday morning, I checked on my yellow berries and decided that it was time to pick them up before they become too ripe.  If you ever picked up berries, you may know that berry picking can be almost therapeutic experience.  I know it is for me: birds are singing, I am not in rush and follow my own rhythm when picking up berries one by one, my thoughts are flowing like slow river in  unexpected directions.

Suddenly, I realized that I saw the picture of these orange berries on one of my face cream from Yves Rocher that I really love.  I dropped what I was doing, ran back to the house, grabbed that face cream, and sure enough, berries I was picking were displayed on the packaging of one of my favorite face cream.  Yves Rocher Botanical Beauty researches described this product as: "sandthorn berries,  whose seeds contain molecules capable of offering unprecedented definition to the facial contour and restoring skin's elasticity. Facial skin grows firmer and, day after day, oval of the face is redefined."

I can confess that this face cream delivers the result that Yves Rocher researches promised.  I don't know why it took me so long to realize that my "no name" mystery orange berries were in fact sandthorn berries.  I found this really funny, but now I know what kind of precious tree I have growing under my window!  Should I say that I love my SANDTHORN homemade preserve even more?

Skin Care...The Secret of Micellar Cleansing Water

About two weeks ago I shared with you my new   skin care cleansing regimen  The reason I had to change something in my skin care routine was simple fact that my old way of skin cleansing did not work anymore.  I realized that I was OVER cleansing my skin, if it makes sense to you.  I felt that the skin on my face became too dry because I was using cleansers that were too strong, removing alone with my makeup, all good, natural oils as well.  This caused  dryness which did not feel good at all.  Now from my personal experience I know this: if your skin feels squeaky clean after cleansing - think twice before you decide to include cleanser in question into your daily skin care routine, it might be too aggressive and damaging for your skin.

I have heard of Micellar Cleansing Water before.  The article in  beautylish  explains really well the benefits of cleansing waters.  The problem is, this product is not very easy to find in the US.  In France it is much more common and it sounds like people who use it like it a lot.  My trip to France not in my nearest plans, so I had to find it here, in the US.  I discovered that French cosmetic company Yves Rocher that I use for some body and face lotions, also produces Micellar Cleansing Water based on three detoxifying teas.

I tried it and it worked like magic.  It looks like water but removes ALL makeup with no problem, including mascara.  Especially I liked the fact that it does not leave oily residue like other eye makeup removers.  Also, it did not cause any dryness to my skin, which does not happen very often. Amazing!  I like the fact that I did not have to use any water, which is very convenient and as you know, water from the tap is not the best for your skin, so I try avoid it when I can.

My conclusion is this: I found one more wonderful skin cleanser in addition to my milky cleansers and   Shu Uemura cleansing oil   which I probably will rotate with Micellar Water from now on.  Let me know if you had a chance to use Micellar Water and if it worked for you. Pin It

Skin care regimen.... Cleansing

I am always on the look out for a good skin care products.  By reading some literature related to this topic I came to realize that there is very fine line between proper cleansing and OVER doing it.  The latter can potentially result in super dry and sensitive skin, which leads to more wrinkles, and who needs that?  I researched (read here - tried a lot of cleansers, because how else you know if it works for you?) and here is my conclusion: I started using much milder cleansers than I used before.  The result?  Considering how my skin feels and looks - I am doing it right.

Another thing I like about products I use now is that it works for my face AND eyes, no need for separate eye make up remover.  At the end of the day, the last think I want to do is to spend too much time taking off my make up, and having separate eye make up remover  is simply not working for me, not efficient enough.  So now I use two types of cleansers and alternate them between morning and evening.  Milky cleansers, when I do not have to use any water and Oil cleanser when I do use tap water.  As you may know, less tap water you use on your face - better.  Here is another tip on how to minimize harsh effect of the tap:  use a cotton ball saturated with Avene bottled water and simply wipe clean your face.  It removes harsh elements left on your skin from the tap.  I use instead another my favorite - Avene Thermal Spring Water.   I spray it on my face and neck after cleansing, it has instant calming effect and feels very good.  Share with me your favorite skin care products!

Pictures down below show cleansers I am very happy with:
- Bioderma Moisturizing Milky Cleanser, followed by Bioderma Moisturising Milk for sensitive skin
or
- Yves Rocher Serum Vegetal Cleansing Milk
or
- Shu Uemura Cleansing Oil
